I want to publish some material here from 100 years ago, similar to the Gruen calendar from the oold forum, but would like to stay with the exact 100 years.

The round men's watch is stonishing, isn't it? Comes with a band and clasp like a ladies watch.

Is that a mens watch? I think I assumed it was ladies.

So this clip is from July 16, 1923, got it. Fun project.

You might be right with your gender comment. A 1923 watch should already be mentioned in the masterbook, but I cannot see a round strap watch (man's section) there. But there is something in the wristlet (ladies) section which looks like fixed lugs and round case. At first thought that at this time the wristlets only had wire lugs.

Here is todays clipping:

Not much Gruen specific but a good overview what has been up at that time.

"won't tip over in the pocket"

"Another explanation why the Pentagon is the ultimate watch"

Gruen used that explaination on the Octathin too.

What I meant with new was the adjustment argument. Up to now I only was aware of the "won't tip over".

May be consulting Dr. Weck before printing the ad would have prevented them from putting the watch upside down.
