"Spartan" Strap 202

Postby Mr. Bieser » Thu 21. Sep 2023, 16:44

Speaking of condition...Strap 202. Wadsworth 3 piece case. Caliber 715, said to be released in 1930. Style 107, said to be introduced in 1931. This is the first model in catalog that uses this shaped crystal, but this case sn suggests a later production date, I believe.
Catalog lists only yellow gold filled.
This strikes me as green.

Yeah, it does seem green gold. Case 033 from the same run, yellow, which even in natural light comes out much darker. And different dial (enameled chapter & radium numerals, not raised gold). 054 exact same as yours. So 001-25 cased green, next 25 yellow, next 25 gold?

And same “Gruen Suisse” not guild movement stamp on all actual 715s I’ve seen so far. Turns out, most of my 715-xxx style stamped watches all have cal 7057 in them.

Trying to catch up, are you talking about the Strap 202 with serial 5471033? And you're saying it's yellow?
I was informed by Barney once that this was an ETA supplied movement, so I'm confident of that, but I've never seen confirmation.

Correct. Here she is. Perhaps more correct to say “coin gold,” bc…

Btw, I would call your watch “Spartan,” although missing it’s Olympic inspired band. Here from June 1932.

Yeah was just making sure you were talking about that one, has an image of top of 715 movement (no visible eta oval mark).... oh is that yellow? Hmm, seller using some odd lighting.. if so now I'm thinking mine must be coin too and my eyes tell me greenish bc it's darker, happened to me before with coin gold...makes more sense, not sure how popular green gold was during this period, not very. It's a possibility they had a green gf variation but I'm not sure,,,

*Had time to compare to known green gold models, definitely coin gold, 100%.
