That is exactly my point: they are slightly different, but not like my 1953 book would imply. Here they are together, setting bits from my ca1921 cal 101 above & my WSC with 101 dial. Can you tell which is which?

Yes, the 626 is the top and the 101 is the bottom.

"and I’m still trying to figure out how Cleves et al date this movement launch to 1915."

Cleve's list and intro dates were a compilation, sourced from late 1950's letters between Henry Doepke (Service Department) and other Gruen company departments.

I believe that the 100/101 were based on the same ebauche as 62x were. But 100/01 were finished "in house" while 62x were sourced as complete and finished movements from one or two external sources. This is why they have different numbers but are very close to each other.

Oh...I didn't realize it was something u thought i wasn't able to determine. Man I been looking at the works for awhile, Like I said very close but they are not an exact match.

Not what I meant to imply. It’s just strange to me that the later silhouettes (to my eyes) don’t represent the differences. I couldn’t differentiate them when I first got & looked at my 626.

I get it and admit I'm using an interpretation of the symbol.
You can really get a sense of the slight differences when looking at more examples of works for both calibers.
Start to distinguish them.
Like this one from Wilka. Works match 626 but no doubt you can differentiate. Later silhouettes do seem wonky.

And you were talking about 101's being in mainly 20's watches, but I do have one from around 1917 in an Oval wristlet.

Found some in my db too. Seems the earlier 101's have 2 adjustments and the 4 adjustments come later.
