Hey, any chance of a pm pic of the E1077 model? Don’t have the book, but I’d love to know if that matches the stylized “E” case I posted above.

Not able to attach to pm. E1077 appears to be the exact same case as E107 already posted. 28 diamonds.

@Mr. Bieser: for now it is not allowed to use attachments with PMs in order to save space. Once we might decide to go for a paid version of the forum software and use a hosting service which provides more space we might open this function up.

Here is the picture from the 1927 guild book,. same as the 1929 version and same as the E107 advertisement as already stated. Different dial and smaller band though:

BTW: the O1077 is not an Octagon.

Fred said: "if custom pieces were catalogued"

One term Gruen used was "individually designed", there's little doubt that they were originally documented by the company.

D said: "BTW: the O1077 is not an Octagon."

That would've been too easy I guess.

This old AA1 ad is interesting with this thread in mind, B101 through B105.
B102 is kinda cool, it's one of those models that you could buy as shown or without "end pieces" for 100 hundred dollars less.

Nope, don't think so. My theory is that this must be from an advertisement in a Vogue magazine, October edition, watches 1 to 5 in the ad.
Not the Design B10x models...

I think you're correct, forgot about some these being magazine/date codes. Thanks for reminder.

Yes, this also confused me a little earlier, especially because the time frame fits. Gruen used the magazine / date coding scheme from 1921 to 1923 in their advertisements right before the platinum models got the very similar names.

I'd like to circle back to this one:

This is only the 2nd example I have ever seen of a USA produced Gruen case with the German Sun & Imperial Crown mark.

It's just interesting to me because it was Gruen that stamps the German Crown in Ohio, according to David Boettcher.

Curious, yes. By chance, was there any exhibition in a country requiring this stamp in which Gruen would have taken part? Something like Göteborg 1923, or perhaps Berlin 1926? I have one watch (not Gruen) in my collection that

Other thoughts: was there a South American country that required that stamp? Or did Gubelin import some finished US models to Germany?
