Gruen employees

A thread for any info that you find post-worthy on Gruen employees.

Alexander M. Fekula, son of a Polish immigrant. He was appointed VP of Gruen styling in June 1953. Interestingly, he was previously at Elgin, where he advocated strong US tariff protections for the domestic watch industry. That may have some fit to Gruen, who was knee-deep in Norwood production/finishing.

Fekula received US patent 2,760,287 in 1956, for a unique price tag for Gruen. It was filed March 25, 1954. I bold it, because Fekula does not seem to have been a good fit: he was out the door soon after the patent filing & long before the patent finalized. He became president of the US import firm handling Marvin watches in mid-1955.

He died Oct 21, 1963.
